I was born right here in good ole Toronto, Ontario with both my parents coming from Paisley, Scotland. My mum was a family of 8 siblings and my dad a family of 3 siblings. Only one of my mums brothers came over to Canada, so that left a lot of family back in Scotland.
I am an only child, which made it lonely growing up, but let's be honest it did mean I got a little more when it came to birthdays and Christmas. I wouldn't say I was spoiled by any means, but I really didn't want for much other than a sibling. My parents had a few medical issues with me when I was born, and I guess decided one was more than enough!
A few years out of high school I married my high school sweetheart, which did ruffle a few feathers (mainly my parents) but we moved on with life and had 2 wonderful kids who I am so proud to say are thriving now with their own families. But unfortunately, we did become one of the statistics and our marriage ended after 18 years. It was amicable and he will always be my first husband, I don't like the term "EX" and maybe that's because we just grew apart and we both wanted the best for each other.
During the years while my kids where young and I was home, I was always looking for something to do to keep me busy and earning a bit of money. I tried Mary Kay, Kids Only Clothing, Avon etc, but nothing really stuck and asking family and friends to constantly host parties was not what I wanted to be doing.
Fast forward to the present and I am happily re-married and still living in Ontario, but secretly desiring a bed and breakfast in the Caribbean with gorgeous tropical views. Afterall who doesn't want that, right! Growing up our travels only consisted of going to Scotland every couple of years to spend time with family, so I didn't start exploring more of the world until I was much older. The Caribbean is where I love to spend time and relax. There is just something about the wrmth and the sound of the waves rolling up on the beach that puts me in a peaceful state.
When Rick and I decided to get married I had my heart set on a wedding at sea and lucky for me Rick thought that was a great idea as well. Thankfully, I was a travel agent at the time and went right into planning our big event with Princess Cruises. We had a total of 21 guests including our kids who all took part in our special day. It was magical, but you do have to remember that all those guests and the kids are with you for your honeymoon...lol So from that day forward I had my own 2 kids and 1 stepson and now I have 2 grandchildren and 4 stepgrandchildren. The family dynamics have certainly grown!
Not having gone to collage or university I never really had a clear path as to what I wanted to do with my life, no direction, just going with the flow and accepting where it took me. I have always been on the hunt for something that excited me, and travel has always been part of that but just not as full filling as I would have liked it to be. More recently over the past few years after Covid, the travel landscape has changed quite a bit and I was looking for that missing piece which I have finally found...YES!!
A bit part of travel has always been helping people, finding the right destination, the right resort, or the right cruise line to fit their needs. So, when I found a new opportunity (no home parties needed) where I can still help people but this time with their health needs, I thought this is a perfect pairing with my travel business. After all you must have your health if you want to travel, so being able to help on both ends gave me a light bulb moment.
All this coming together giving me the opportunity to share my travel and health experiences for others to learn from. I have combined both my passions into one as a Travel & Lifestyle Blogger. I can share about health, travel and more to keep you informed so that you can make the best decision for you. Feel free to check out my website and take advantage of some free resources!
I am so happy that at the age of 61, I have finally decided what it is I want to be when I grow up...lol I finally have a clear focus on how I can help others through either personal experience, research or knowledge that I can share. Helping women over 50 has recently become my focus and I can't wait to help you all - one woman at a time.
I look forward to sharing more about me, my life, and my thoughts through my upcoming blogs, I hope you will all stay tuned and follow along. Please feel free to reach out, i would love to connect and hear your story, after all sharing is caring!
